Now that full-time remote work is much more commonplace, many people are enjoying the flexibility of not being tied down to a geographic location. As a result, the moving and real estate industries have been seeing a huge uptick in people relocating to different states.
Always wondered what it would be like to live on the West Coast? Now’s the time!
However, if you’re simply looking for a change of scenery and don’t have a specific destination in mind, then you would be wise to start thinking about the qualities that make one place better for you than another.
To that end, we hope this blog post is a good starting place! Now let’s dive in.
Top 10 Best U.S. States to Live In
To help you out on this quest, WalletHub recently published a study that ranked the best U.S. states to live in in 2021, based on the following five categories:
- Affordability
- Economy
- Education and health
- Quality of life
- Safety
WalletHub calculated a score for each state in each category by measuring and weighing 52 different metrics—what the study’s author describes as “key indicators of livability”—including things like unemployment rates, crime rates, housing costs, and so on.
According to the study’s final scores, here are the top 10 most livable states:
- New Jersey (63.01)
- Massachusetts (62.60)
- New York (61.63)
- Idaho (61.16)
- Minnesota (60.97)
- Wisconsin (60.94)
- Utah (59.84)
- New Hampshire (59.59)
- Iowa (59.49)
- Pennsylvania (59.21)
(On a personal note, Chase Moving and Storage is disappointed that Vermont didn’t make the cut—but we’re happy to keep the wonders of our little state a secret!)
